Meksiko je primio gotovo 11.000 deportiranih migranata iz Sjedinjenih Država od stupanja na dužnost američkog predsjednika Donalda Trumpa 20. siječnja, rekla je u petak meksička predsjednica Claudia Sheinbaum. Rekla je da je među njima 2500 migranata koji nisu Meksikanci. 

Sheinbaum je ranije ovog tjedna postigla dogovor s Trumpom o pauziranju carina na meksičku robu u zamjenu za raspoređivanje tisuća policajaca Nacionalne garde na sjevernoj granici Meksika sa Sjedinjenim Državama kako bi se dodatno smanjio protok migranata koji žele ući u SAD.

Sheinbaum je dodala na redovnoj konferenciji za medije da je Meksiko vratio deportirane migrante u Honduras zračnim i kopnenim putem. Naglasila je da vraćanje nije bilo prisilno. - To je dobrovoljno - rekla je meksička predsjednica novinarima. - Otpratit ćemo ih kako bi se mogli vratiti u svoje domovine - rekla je Sheinbaum.
